Why You Shouldn’t Skip Seoul on Your Next Trip to Asia

Seoul, South Korea is “Asia’s best-kept secret” they say. It’s like diet Tokyo. This was my second trip to Seoul and it was just as epic as the first time – just as I remembered.

My ex is in some of these photos, and I just decided to keep them in here. He was a part of many of our travels and it’s almost impossible to write the story and talk about the trip, pretending he wasn’t there.

Here is my print shop with some art images from both Seoul trips.

For some reason, fried chicken is a big deal in Korea. Then I found some knock-off brand green tea “Kit-Kats”.

I got to do a fun engagement shoot with a couple in the Eunpyeong hanok village, wearing traditional hanbok. These colors in Korea! The background looks like a painting!

Of course, I had to shoot a punk show in the basement of some venue. This is my friend Matt’s band, Gumiho.

Just as Jenikah and I bailed for the evening because I was jet-lagged and she was tired, OF COURSE the “Makgeolli Man” comes out, ringing his bell, pushing around a cart, selling makgeolli. This was something I was dying to see and I missed it by an hour or so!

Probably the best iced coffee I’ve ever had, in the coolest cafe I’ve been in. It used to be in an old print shop and they artistically kept all the old elements as decor in the cafe. This is one of the little places that are inside a maze of narrow alleyways that only a local would know how to find.

STREET FOOD!!!
Getting/giving a tattoo in Korea is still illegal, despite having one or many are not. We had to find this brilliant artist online and was given the secret address to their shop. This artist had only been tattooing for a year! A YEAR! And he knocked this out in about two hours.

The Starbucks stores here are fancy and decadent. Also, their “pumpkin spice” is actually just squash.

The food tour! This lady is famous and was featured on Netflix. It usually takes hours to get food from her station, but we were with a hookup and got seated immediately.

OH and then there’s this….the live squid on top of beef tartar. Not really alive, but still squirming. NO. THANK YOU.
